Ebonized Dining Chairs
Ash chairs blackened with iron acetate, plus one in oxblood for contrast.

Iron acetate (steel wool soaked in vinegar for a week) reacts with the tannins in ash to turn it a deep grey-black. A tannin pre-coat made the colour much more even.
What I’d do differently
Sharpen more often, measure twice, and leave the finish until the next morning instead of rushing it at midnight.
